Cree8.ca: Drum-making, Drumstick & Songs Workshop

Cree8 will be hosting a THREE-DAY drum-making, drumstick & song workshop over the August long weekend -  July 31, August 1 & 2, 2026

***We have a beautiful location with limited space so register early.***

Details:
Friday, August 31, 2026
Drum Making
5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Blessing ceremony, smudge and teachings.
Cutting the hide and soaking overnight.

Saturday, August 1, 2026
Drum Making
11:00 am - 5:00 pm
Opening prayer and smudge.
Sharing stories, legends & history of the drum.
Making and stringing drums.

Sunday, August 2, 2026
Drumsticks & Songs
Drumstick Making
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Drum Opening Ceremony 
4:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Drum Circle
4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

*We will have coffee, tea, water, juice, and snacks.  Let us know if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions.

Materials:
Drums
Rawhide – Deer, Elk, Moose, or Buffalo for the drum face
Lacing – Rawhide (Precut)
Drum Rounds – 8”, 10”, 12" or 14" Yellow Cedar
Larger Drum Rounds of 16", 18", 20", 22", 24", 26", 28" and 30" are available upon request for an additional cost to cover materials, please contact Chantal for further information.

Drum Sticks
Sticks - Different sizes and types of wood to choose from
Mitt - Deer Leather/Suede
Batting – Wool
Sinew – For stitching

We humbly request $300/Person for instruction and materials of the full Drum Workshop. (Drumstick Included)
Children are $150 (Drum up to 10") when accompanying a registered Adult.
*Now accepting 20% Calgary Dollars ($60 Calgary Dollars + $240 Federal Dollars)
